Thanksgiving Week Fun

What a full two day week we had! So much jam-packed in!! Here is what our kiddos have been up to lately....

The kids enjoyed LEGOS' Bricks 4 Kidz program. The kids worked in teams on building skyscrapers from plans. They did a great job!

 We had a blast with our big buddies from Mrs. Williams' 3rd grade class! We made Thanksgiving glyphs based on our favorite foods and Thanksgiving activities. 

Finally, we were fortunate to meet author Ronda Friend in an assembly last week. She held a storytelling of her books and made the kids laugh and laugh. She's such a fun character! To learn more information on her and her books, check out her website here.

I'm thankful for my fabulous class and their wonderful families. They teach me something new everyday and remind me why I chose to do what I do.

Learning Safety with Officer Shelton

  The kids had a great time learning about safety from Officer Ben Shelton from LMPD. He was quite the character and the kids loved learning from him. He even let them talk over his speaker on his car. Thank you for your time Officer Shelton!!

Tech Savvy With Mr. Hastings!

Mr. Hastings was kind to stop by and show us the inside of a computer and talk about his job as a Computer Technician. The kids loved learning about the different parts of the computer and seeing them taken apart!

Telling Jokes With Mr. Jonathan!

The kids had a great time speaking with Mr. Jonathan, one of our fabulous custodians at Wheeler! When he isn't keeping our school clean and working with kids, he is working on his Comic Books starring "Mr. Funny Guy" and doing stand up at local spots. He stopped by to share his gifts with the students and discuss how much practice it takes to become an artist.

All Smiles With Dr. Holeman!

October is SUPER HERO month and we are talking about different jobs you can do to be an everyday Super Hero!

A big THANK YOU to Dr. Brittany Holeman from Advanced Dental Care for coming in to discuss her job as a dentist and how to properly take care of your teeth. The kids had a blast and won't stop showing me their beautiful smiles! Not that I am complaining... :)

Our First Medal Ceremony!

At Wheeler, EVERY KID IS A WINNER and we celebrate their successes each six weeks following report card distribution. Every student gets a medal and a celebration pin each six weeks. During the year, these are displayed in our classroom and the kids get to wear them home on the last day of school. Needless to say, the kids were excited! :)

Please excuse my lack of  the 'r' in Mrs...it fell off. Mr. Bratton is still in the picture! :)
