Happy Holidays!

The kiddos spent the month of December learning about traditions of popular American holidays. We had a great time experiencing new cultures and sharing our own family traditions!

Kwanzaa was a big hit!The students loved getting to make their own muhindi. Ask your students how many pieces of muhindi your family's table would have on it! African music was a blast to dance to during our brain breaks as well. Here is a link to one of our favorites! Click here.
The Hanukkah traditions were a class favorite. The kids loved getting to play dreidel and our class menorah!

The final week, we discussed the traditions of Christmas. The older students in violin performed carols for us. We had a great time singing "Jingle Bells" together!

We also decorated our own trees during our winter party.

The kiddos especially loved when Mrs. Bratton and Mrs. Morelli wore their ugly Christmas sweaters with the staff!

We also learned that the holiday season is a time for giving back, and helping others that are less fortunate than ourselves. We teamed up with Scholastic to help with their pajama drive. We collected pajamas and Scholastic matched each pair with a new book to be donated to homeless children. We collected THIRTY FOUR pairs of pajamas! The kids were so proud and excited to help others! Way to go kiddos!!!
